About the Journal

Journal of Advancement in Preclinical and Paraclinical Research (JAPPR) is a peer-reviewed, open access international journal committed to advancing translational insights through rigorous research in preclinical, paraclinical and experimental medical sciences. JAPPR provides a dynamic platform for high-quality original research, critical reviews and emerging methodologies that bridge basic biological science with clinical applications.

Published quarterly and freely accessible online, JAPPR operates under a diamond open access model — there are no article submission, processing or publication fees, ensuring that both authors and readers benefit from unrestricted access and equitable dissemination.

Aims and Scope

JAPPR publishes multidisciplinary research that enhances understanding of disease mechanisms, diagnosis and therapy through experimental, clinical applications and model-based research. The journal focuses on the interface of laboratory-based science and clinical relevance — particularly research with translational potential.

We welcome contributions across the following areas:

  • Pre & para clinical research involving in vitro, in vivo, ex vivo, and organoid models covering disciplines of Anatomy, Physiology, Biochemistry, pathology, pharmacology, microbiology, toxicology, and forensic sciences
  • Model organisms and systems (e.g. rodents, zebrafish, Drosophila, organoids, stem-cell models, bioengineered tissues)
  • Pharmaceutical and drug discovery research, including novel formulation, delivery systems, nanomedicine, and therapeutic targeting
  • Translational medicine studies focusing on diagnostics, biomarkers, therapy development, regenerative medicine, molecular biology, genomics and early-stage clinical research
  • Environmental, metabolic, infectious and neurological disease modeling
  • Interdisciplinary and systems biology approaches, including Artificial Intelligence/ Machine Learning applications in drug discovery or disease prediction
  • Emerging technologies and methods that enhance research reproducibility and clinical relevance

Article Types

JAPPR accepts a variety of scholarly contributions:

  • Original research articles
  • Systematic and narrative reviews
  • Short communications and technical notes
  • Case reports and case series (where model relevance is demonstrated)
  • Methodological advances and resource articles
  • Expert commentaries, editorials, and perspectives
  • Thematic special issues and invited mini-reviews
  • Letter to editors

Descriptive studies introducing new models or techniques must demonstrate clear translational utility or mechanistic insight into human disease processes.

Editorial Process and Peer Review

JAPPR employs a double-blind peer review process, coordinated by a diverse international editorial board of subject-matter experts. Manuscripts are assessed for:

  • Scientific rigor and originality
  • Methodological transparency
  • Translational significance
  • Ethical integrity and compliance with reporting standards

We encourage submissions, accept peer review history from previous journals, and maintain policies that support scoop protection and preprint submissions.

Peer Review Policy

Manuscripts are sent for review only after passing the initial evaluation of formatting and thematic relevance. The initial assessment is carried out without undue delay.

The review process takes up to four weeks and about 80 days for the overall time from manuscript submission to publication.

During the review process, the Editor-in-Chief may request additional information from the authors, including raw data, if required for proper evaluation. All such materials are treated as confidential and used exclusively for the purpose of manuscript assessment.

The review process is conducted entirely online under the supervision of the Editor-in-Chief.

Resolving inconsistencies

If authors raise well-founded objections to a review, the Editorial Board evaluates whether the review is objective and meets academic standards. In cases where objectivity or quality is in doubt, the Editor-in-Chief will appoint additional reviewer(s).

Additional reviewers may also be engaged when the initial reviewers’ recommendations (acceptance or rejection) are conflicting or otherwise significantly divergent.

The final decision on the acceptance of a manuscript for publication rests exclusively with the Editor-in-Chief.

Publishing Model and Ethics

JAPPR adheres to publishing best practices as outlined by COPE, ICMJE, and WAME, with strict policies on:

  • Research misconduct and plagiarism (checked via plagiarism detection software)
  • Ethical use of animals and human data
  • Data transparency and conflict of interest disclosures

All articles are published under the Creative Commons Attribution - Non Commercial - Share Alike 4.0 License (CC BY-NC-SA 4.0), allowing non-commercial sharing and adaptation with proper attribution.

Benefits of Publishing with JAPPR

  • No article processing or publication charges
  • Global open access with high discoverability
  • Rapid, continuous publication model with Online First
  • Wide international reach and cross-disciplinary appeal
  • Altmetrics and usage data for tracking article impact
